Deep Rooted
Nourishing a healthy relationship with food and you body takes time and will have its ups and downs. Expect this process to take time because there is no such thing as a quick fix when it comes to unlearning our diet culture.
-
Integrative
Achieving wellness is not just dependent on your diet. Stress management, movement, work life balance, medications, sleep, socioeconomic factors all have an impact on how and what you eat - as well as your health. I’ll help guide you through nutrition and non - nutrition related struggles.
How you’ll feel
more confident and clearheaded with increased energy and mental clarity
My approach
I will help you achieve your health + wellness goals by applying the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating throughout our sessions. This is a self-care eating framework that integrates instinct, emotion, and rational thought. Developed by dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, Intuitive Eating is an evidence-based approach that encourages a practice to develop trust with your body, which in turn can heal your relationship with food, mind, and body. This approach takes the focus off of weight and instead promotes a safe space to explore and honor physical and mental health without the scale.
FAQs
What will happen to my weight if I eat Intuitively?
Eating Intuitively may cause you to lose weight, gain weight, or not change your weight at all. Factors that may influence this would be your genetic weight set point range, as well as your own history with weight loss/weight gain cycling from chronic dieting. With the practice of intuitive eating (along with general self care), your body will settle in it’s biologically appropriate/set point range. Achieving your natural weight set point means listening to and honoring your body in response hunger and fullness cues, finding enjoyable sustainable movement, and having healthy stress management and coping strategies.
where do sessions take place?
It depends where you reside. If you’re in STL, we can meet at your home, a local coffee shop, or park. I also offer virtual sessions that take place on Healthie - a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform.
HOw often should we meet?
Sessions are self paced, however most people like to meet with me weekly for the first few sessions, and then spread them out bi-weekly once their needs change.
How many sessions do I need?
Nutrition therapy is highly individualized + based on your dieting and body image history. Change won’t happen over night and there will be a lot of unlearning involved too. Most clients work with me for at least three months as this is the minimum amount of time it takes to really see change.
What should I expect from my visits?
I want you to leave each session feeling motivated, empowered, heard, challenged, and validated. I want you to feel like you’re chatting with your bestie who happens to also be a nutrition expert.
what is your cancellation policy?
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Please call or email me at STLnutritioncounseling@gmail.com to reschedule. You can also modify or cancel your appointment here: Schedule Now
All no call - no shows will be charged a $50 fee.
C.S. - during weekly check in
“Hey Mallory! I'm doing pretty good. I finally attached the sensor for my Freestyle monitor!!! I've been checking like crazy! One of the doctors here has one as well!! He said the same thing you did about you can really keep track of the foods that spike your sugar. I really love it! I also finally started taking Rybelsus! I am on my 6th day! I have already noticed that the sugars are dropping a little. My average 6 days ago was 306. I've noticed that my readings are starting to come down a little into the high 200's compared to my 300's. I've also been praying a lot about my home, work, and church life. I will be putting some of my church life on hold for awhile. Life is just too much right now with everything, and I need to focus on home mostly. I feel relieved to make this decision. I am still going through the packet and answering the questions! I have literally no anxious feelings about what I am eating. I am trying to think healthier of course, but I am not beating myself up if I choose to eat something I used to think was bad. I hope you are doing well! I am looking forward to the next session next week!”
